The first version of the Twitter API was a ground-breaking technology that was considered the unofficial standard in API design, being copied and replicated by thousands of companies around the Web.
This led to lots of Twitter tools and applications being developed, helping the social network gain notoriety and adoption between its users.
While the older API was pretty simple to work with, this newer version of the API (v1.1) is an absolute nightmare for both users and developers.
This is mainly because of authentication procedures, which if even more secure, made the process of creating, publishing, setting up, and configuring a Twitter application an absolute pain.
This newer Twitter API has also been the death of many Twitter apps and plugins that have stopped working altogether now.
That's why when a new plugin like WP Twitter Feeds is published, you pay attention to it, because they're not so many WordPress plugins that work properly with Twitter these days.
With pretty good support for the new API, an easy to use interface, and lots of options to choose from, the WP Twitter Feeds widget will allow developers to easily publish a Twitter timeline feed on their site.
Installation:
Unpack and upload it to the /wp-content/plugins/ directory.
Activate the plugin through the 'Plugins' menu in WordPress.
